American Book Company, 1897. Antiquarian cloth bound hardcover of Revised Text-Book of Geology by James Dana.

James Dana's original Manual of Geology was first published in 1862 and quickly became a standard text in American universities. The Revised Text-Book was created to be a more accessible, shorter version intended for high schools and introductory college courses.

Dana (1813–1895) was a preeminent American geologist, mineralogist, and naturalist. He served as the geologist and zoologist on the U.S. Exploring Expedition of 1838–1842 to the Pacific. The expedition collected over 40 tons of specimens and artifacts which formed the basis for the founding of the Smithsonian Institution.

Good condition. 3-inch corner section of page 63 torn away and loosely inserted in the pages. Lots of folded page corners throughout. A few light pencil markings that do not obscure text. Covers good. Binding solid. Previous owner's name to the front fly leaf. Solid book with shelf wear.
