William Clowes & Sons, Limited, 1890. First edition antiquarian cloth bound hardcover of The Waterloo Roll Call by Charles Dalton.

256 pages with 4 black and white plates, including the frontispiece. Yellow paper stock ads for the front and back cover pastedowns.

A valuable reference work that provides a complete regimental record of all British Army officers who fought at the Battle of Waterloo. The book is the result of years of meticulous research by Charles Dalton, a noted authority on the British Army.

The book's previous owner, John Wardell (sp?), appears to have used it for research, making occasional small marginal markings to some names. For example, he cross-references soldiers who fought in the Battle of Salamanca of the Peninsular War to pages 130-132.

Good condition. Black and white plate at page 180 detached from the binding and is loosely inserted in place. Inner hinges worn but intact. Covers worn, soiled and bumped at the corners. Previous owner's name, John Wardell (sp?), in pencil to the front free end paper. Occasional, small marginal notations by the previous owner that seem to be his own research. Solid book with shelf wear.
