Daniel Carter Beard (1850–1941) was an American illustrator, author, and outdoorsman who helped create the Boy Scouts of America. He also illustrated several books for Mark Twain and served as the National Scout Commissioner for over 30 years, during which he designed many of the most recognizable elements of the Scout uniform.
