D. Appleton and Company, 1912. Cloth bound hardcover of Astronomy with an Opera-Glass: A Popular Introduction to the Study of the Starry Heavens with the Simplest of Optical Instruments by Garrett Serviss.
A classic guide introducing amateur stargazers to the night sky using only binoculars or a low-power telescope. Serviss provides clear, non-technical instructions for observing celestial objects like constellations, double stars, nebulae, and star clusters.
Poor condition. Liquid stains to the top edge and right edge of the pages with rippling to the top 2-inches of the page block. Crayon doodle found to page 7. Occasional markings throughout that do not obscure text. One torn page corner found to page 56. Acceptable as a reading copy.
