Charles Scribner's Sons, 1937. Illustrated hardcover with a personalized leather covering dedicated to the book's previous owner Archibald Whyte of The Scottish Chiefs by Jane Porter.

A gifted presentation copy of The Scottish Chiefs given to Archibald Whyte, Sr. a Scottish immigrant who passed away in Elizabeth, New Jersey, in 1947. He was a Chief of the local Order of Scottish Clans chapter Clan Gordon No. 69. The O.S.C. provided life and disability insurance to Scottish immigrants and their descendants while also preserving Scottish culture in the United States.

Archibald was the oldest living past chief of Clan Gordon at the time of his death at the age of 84. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He worked for sixty years as a machinist at Singer Manufacturing and retired in 1932.

Very Good. The leather covering is flaking along the edges and hinges. Otherwise nice book with light shelf wear.
