H.G. Aschenbrenner Jr., 1999. Signed hand-made author's proof cloth bound hardcover with dust jacket of Running on the Edge by Harvey Aschenbrenner Jr.
Harvey has signed and inscribed the front free fly leaf to his friend and doctor, Dr. Ostman, "who kept me going for the past 10 years."
Extremely unique and rare hand-made book that the author made only 20 copies of in 1999. The final book was actually published in 2004. The pages appear to have been produced from an inkjet printer. Harvey also has gone through and applied post-print edits to the text by blacking out words and phrases. This is copy 9 of 20.
Harvey G. Aschenbrenner, Jr. (1941-2006), from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, gained prominence in the early 1960s by designing and building "Banchi's," formula kart experimental machines that won eight national championships. His engineering skills led him to work on snowmobile programs for Mercury Marine and Kiekaefer Aeromarine, and later, he was recruited by Kawasaki Motors to design a racecar. After moving to Southern California, he founded and successfully operated A.J.A. Enterprises, a wire harness and cable assembly business. In 1979 he moved to San Diego, California to live on Shelter Island aboard his boat in a marina. He returned ""home"" to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin in 1990 in an attempt to retire, but was soon building two more Banchi's from the original jig and prints, and also working on this book. Harvey died of lung cancer June 27, 2006.
Very Good. Book is 100% hand made. Nice book with light shelf wear.
