The Macmillan Company, 1925. Cloth bound hardcover of Verse Plays by John Masefield.
John Masefield (1878–1967) was an English poet and writer best known for his poems Sea-Fever and Cargoes, which reflect his love of the sea. He was appointed Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom in 1930, a position he held until his death. Masefield wrote both poetry and prose, including novels, plays, and children's books. His works often celebrated adventure, nature, and the resilience of the human spirit.
This book contains a gift bookplate from Northwestern University College of Liberal Arts stating that it was awarded to Ruth Orndoff for high scholarship maintained through her freshman year. It is signed by the Dean and dated 12/7/1927. The Dean during this time was Walter Dill Scott, however, in my research the signature does not look like his. Nonetheless, the Northwestern association is quite interesting.
Very Good. Nice book with light shelf wear.
