The influential Greek Stoic philosopher Epictetus was born into slavery and went on to establish a renowned school focused on ethical living and resilience. While none of his writings survived, his core teachings were preserved by his student Arrian.

Good condition. Volume 1 only. Material of the spine worn with tearing to the crown and foot. Front and rear covers okay. Previous owner's bookplate inside the front cover. Binding very strong. Pencil markings found to pages 50-51. No other markings found. Solid antiquarian book with shelf wear.
