Bishop, a commander in the regiment, provides an insider's perspective on the daily hardships, strategic movements, and high morale of the Minnesota soldiers as they fought primarily in the Western Theater, earning a reputation for courage and tenacity.

Good condition. Light liquid stains to the bottom of the page block, and rear fly leaf. The pages seem unaffected. There is a very very slight horizontal waviness to the pages that can be felt by running your fingertips over the page block. It feels more related to the binding than liquid damage. Spotting to the front cover. Covers worn at the edges and corners. Slight lean to the binding. Inner hinges worn but solidly attached. Isolated 1-inch chip and tear to the front fly leaf bottom left corner. Interior pages crisp. Discoloration or browning to the outer edges of the black and white plates (see photos). Pencil marking to pages 252-253 by book's previous owner where his name and military service is mentioned. Previous owner's name inside the front cover. Solid book with shelf wear.
