Charles Scribner's Sons, 1918. Cloth bound hardcover of The Origin and Evolution of Life: On the Theory of Action, Reaction and Interaction of Energy by Henry Osborn.

Henry Fairfield Osborn, Sr. (1857–1935) was a prominent American paleontologist, geologist, and museum administrator serving as the American Museum of Natural History's President of the Board of Trustees for 25 years.

Osborn was a prominent advocate for the existence of evolution, though he favored the now-discredited theory of orthogenesis over natural selection. He was a cofounder of the American Eugenics Society and was known for promoting eugenics and certain beliefs about racialism and the biological superiority of the white race.
