1936-1939. Leather bound hardcover 1930s Family Photo Album of Surnames Hillig, Turnell, Jenkins & Frye, Spanning 1936-1939, with Yellowstone Bears, Western & Midwestern National Parks & Landmarks by Luella Evangeline Steere Hillig & Fred Harold Hillig, Jr.
Approximately 130 family photos, across 27 album pages, of road trips, landmarks, and National Parks throughout the American West and Midwest. A few pages of photos have been hand colorized.
The album's owner Nancy (Hillig) Jenkins-Frye has included detailed handwritten notes of her own genealogical family research to a few inserted index cards throughout. The introductory card reads:
"Photo Library of Fred H. Hillig, Jr. -- This photo album was compiled by my mother Luella Evangeline Steere Hillig. She speaks as if she was the 'owner' of the album, so that personal reference such as 'me' in a few captions actually refer to my father, Fred Harold Hillig. The script was my mother's hand. Photographs are mostly of family trips between July 1936 and +/- 1939. Family members include:
Edith Turnell (Fred's mother)
Genoveave Turnell (Fred's sister)
Warren Turnell (Fred's half-brother)
Edythia Turnell (Fred's half-sister)
(Wife [sp?] Evie's posterior)
- Nancy (Hillig) Jenkins-Frye
2012"
Highlights include photos of the bears of Yellowstone and Yellowstone landmarks like Old Faithful, trips to Colorado, Wisconsin, Mt. Rushmore, Wyoming and other National Parks of the West.
Good condition. Cover material is flaking, especially at the hinges and edges. Book structural integrity is very solid. Solid book with shelf wear.
