Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1950. Cloth bound hardcover of A New Translation of the Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments by James Moffatt.

Scottish scholar James Moffatt published his complete Bible translation in 1926, having previously released the New Testament in 1913 and the Old Testament in 1924. Notably, he undertook the monumental task of translating the entire text from the original languages single-handedly, rather than working with a committee of scholars. Because it was the first widely accepted version to replace traditional formal language with modern, colloquial English, it is frequently cited as the "grandfather" of modern-language Bible translations.

Good condition. Contains light pencil markings throughout that do not obscure text. Previous owner's markings to the first blank page. Removal of paperclip impression to top of pages 1121-1130. Solid book with shelf wear.
