Amidst the filming, the brothers contend with a stray gorilla hiding in their shelter, and unmasking an impostor attempting to steal ranch hand Nick Looker's inheritance of $6000.

Running from 1926 to 1942, The X Bar X Boys series followed the Manley brothers as they balance traditional ranching with the encroaching modernity of automobiles and airplanes. Most of the stories followed a formula where 80% of the book focused on ranching and 20% on solving a central mystery or crime.
