The South Carolina Department of Archives and History, 1999. First edition large cloth bound hardcover with dust jacket of Willtown: An Archaeological and Historical Perspective by Martha Zierden, Suzanna Linder & Ronald Anthony.
The archaeological site Willtown (also called Willtown Bluff or New London) is the location of an early colonial settlement established around 1704 in South Carolina on the S. Edisto River. It served as a vital early regional center, and archaeological research focuses on the ruins of its Presbyterian churches, parsonages, and cemeteries. The site is historically significant as a rice-producing community and was involved in major events like the Yamassee War and a notable Civil War raid by the first all-Black Union regiment.
Very Good. Nice book with light shelf wear.
