Raintree Childrens Books, 1980-81. Lot of 20 illustrated hardcover offbeat childrens books for parents & teachers (and children, too, I suppose).
Unlike any children's books I've ever seen -- with titles like "Sometimes My Mom Drinks Too Much" and "My Sister Is Different" -- these books deal frankly and compassionately with difficult childhood situations. They certainly catch the eye.
My curiosity was piqued. I read through them and was genuinely impressed with the direct tone and commitment to realism.
It is hard not to chuckle at the illustrations. You have my permission to enjoy these books ironically as well.
Very Good. Crisp copies with sturdy bindings, crisp pages & light shelf wear. Very light, occasional pencil markings found in 2 volumes. Previous owner's name inside the cover of 1 volume.
