Rev. William Jay
Harper & Brothers, 1867. Cloth bound hardcover of Morning and Evening Exercises for the Closet for Every Day in the Year, by the Rev. William Jay of Argyle Chapel, Bath.
Includes a few pieces of ephemera inserted in the pages. My favorite is a typed letter of news from a farmer to his sister: "I supose you herd about George Tullis getting his arm takingoff he was feeding a stock acutter and got his arm taking offat the shollder at the same place where Earnie Carr had his took off at the same place at the same machine."
For each day of the year there is a verse of scripture followed by commentary for the practicing Christian.
Acceptable. Clear tape repair to the cloth along the front gutter and spine. Chipping to the top of the spine. Gift inscription to the first blank page. Worn but fully intact antiquarian book.
