Jerome Grismer & Clyde Kendrick, 1985. Rare trade paperback containing numerous illustrations throughout.

In the late 1800s, an innovative advertising process was used on tools, principally axes. Highly individualized artistic company logos (brands) publicized axe manufacturers, axe distributors, and hardware companies. Little has been formally recorded documenting these various brands, their geographic representation, the numbers, the various types, their time of existence, or the manufacturers involved. Many brands are yet to be discovered. This catalogue may provide the first step in documentation for the interested reader.

This book comes from the collection of Edward Lebetkin, my father, and the proprietor of the antique tool store above Roy Underhill's Woodwright’s School in downtown Pittsboro, NC, which recently closed after a 14 year run. I am selling many more books from my dad's shelves that he used to research his inventory. If you are a serious woodworker, check out my store for more wonderful titles like this one.

Good condition. Solid copy with clean pages & some shelf wear. Light spotting to the edge of the page block.
