The Tuttle, Morehouse & Taylor Co., 1929. Signed and inscribed cloth bound hardcover of Genealogy of the Cowles Families in America, Volume II, compiled by Colonel Calvin Duvall Cowles, Historian of the Cowles Family Association.
The author Calvin Cowles has signed and inscribed the front fly leaf to his "dear wife, with my love, and in appreciation of her deep interest and faithful assistance in the publication of this book."
Importantly, not only was this the author's wife's copy, the author also appears to have hand-notated this volume with various post-publication genealogical updates throughout. For example, he notates the entry for his own nephew Noble Harwood on page 1073 adding life events of Noble's graduation in 1929 and premature death in 1933. This and a few other examples are shown in the photos.
Volume II begins at page 753 with entry #2693: "Wilbur Fiske Cowles, son of Lucas (#1103), b. Feb. 18, 1835, in Westfield, Mass." The end of this book includes an index for both volumes.
Acceptable. The binding is loose and splitting at the hinges. Tearing to the cloth at the top and bottom of the spine. A fragile book that should be handled with care.
